I am on the lookout for Good Deed Detectives and would love to come to your school to help make kindness contagious.

If you don’t like the headlines, go out and make your own. That was a phrase my mom would tell us as she encouraged us to find the beauty in life, despite what was happening around us. It empowered me to realize that kindness truly is the key to happiness and peace.

I grew up riding horses on the Diamond B Ranch in Arizona and competing in rodeo. I was honored to win the title of Miss Rodeo USA 2000 and travel our great nation as the official ambassador for the International Professional Rodeo Association. One of my favorite aspects about winning that title was it gave me the opportunity to promote my platform called Kickin’ Up Kindness. I was invited to speak all over our country and internationally at schools, community events, government meetings, sporting events, and in front of large audiences from all walks of life. The goal was to encourage my audience to spread acts of kindness in their sphere of influence. I would recruit Good Deed Detectives who were on the lookout for acts of kindness and they would report them back to me. I collected several volumes of my Kickin’ Up Kindness Notebooks from all over our country and challenged those in attendance to committing random acts of kindness.

Now I have 5 children of my own. I still ride horses and compete on an equine performance drill team. However, my focus is on making my community a better place for my children to grow up in. Kindness is contagious, and we all smile in the same language. So let’s kick up kindness and share it with the world.
